28 Apr Action packed entertainment for Bank Holiday at Rockingham Castle
Rockingham Castle hosted its inaugural horse trials last May, receiving high praise across the board. This year there is even more on offer to entertain visitors.
It goes without saying that the eventing will be top notch. Many of the biggest names in the sport will be galloping out of the cross country start box, including the World numbers 1 and 2, Andrew Nicholson and William Fox-Pitt. However, that doesn’t mean that those less horse-orientated members of the family should stay at home – there really is something for everyone to enjoy.
A bouncy castle, climbing wall and unusual animals await the children, Xtreme Falconry, dancing sheep and fun dog agility classes will entertain the whole family, and there are 70 trade stands ready to sell their wares. Everything from clothing to cupcakes, lawnmowers to landrovers, horse feed to handbags and jewellery to jetskis. If you feel so inclined you could spend the whole day barely setting eyes on a horse!
When energy levels start to drop there is a range of food outlets catering for every taste, and not forgetting the all important bar for those in need of a stronger form of refreshment.
Trade Stand numbers are up on last year, sponsorship is up, and competitor numbers are up. The organisers are hoping for a clean sweep with record crowds over the weekend – visitors can be sure of a warm welcome.
