The sense of excitement in the office is gathering momentum. Ex World and European Champion Zara Tindall is due to return to the Horse Trials, having missed Rockingham last year. She has entered CG Master Lux in Sunday’s advanced intermediate class and Drops of Brandy in the CIC2*. Past Badminton winner Paul Tapner has five horses entered, while his Australian team mate Bill Levett has seven listed. Riders representing Russia, the USA, Ireland, Germany, Switzerland, Australia, Italy and Canada have all thrown their hats in to the ring and this list is likely to grow.
However, it’s not just the eventing that is attracting exciting entries. Last year’s Pony Club team show jumping class drew 17 teams – this year we have been inundated with entries, necessitating a slight change in the rules to accommodate as many riders as possible.
Away from the action Corby based Norbrook® Laboratories is hosting an evening event on the Friday, in the officials/owners marquee. Norbrook® Laboratories is the only home-grown British pharmaceutical company, and is a world leader in the development of revolutionary veterinary and animal health medicines. Experts from the company will be giving performance horse related educational talks, not to mention drinks and bacon butties, but spaces are limited so please book in by emailing ulcarawareness@norbrook.co.uk.
The weekend looks set to be a shoppers delight. Everything from horse boxes to handmade English watches, leather goods to ladies clothing, fine art photography to fudge. With food and drink outlets, children’s entertainment and country demonstrations there is plenty to catch the eye.
Advance tickets are now available, starting at £7 per person.
