Brigstock International Horse Trials successfully relocated to Rockingham Castle last year and we now look forward to its second year with huge anticipation. The Castle, built on the instructions of William the Conqueror, stands on the edge of the WellandValley on the border of Northamptonshire and England’s smallest county, Rutland. The event will be taking place in the beautiful GreatPark with outstanding views over the surrounding countryside.
James Saunders Watson, owner of RockinghamCastle said “This is an outstanding achievement for Rockingham. The establishment of a major international equestrian event is a success not just for Rockingham but for the region as a whole. The GreatPark is an outstanding show ground with all the ingredients required to host a large equestrian event”.
The course has being designed and built by international acclaimed designer Philip Herbert. Philip has a reputation for building imaginative and creative courses and obstacles enjoyed by riders and spectators alike and there will be new additions for this year. His skills have been honed on the international courses at Burghley.
Philip Herbert, international course designer said “To build a new course from scratch is without doubt every course designer’s dream. The setting provided at Rockingham is outstanding, standing, as it does on the escarpment looking out over Rutland. The course will be varied, challenging and exciting for the riders and, provide easy viewing for spectators”.
David Laing, Chairman of Brigstock Horse Trials at RockinghamCastle said “I am absolutely delighted that Brigstock will continue and have a new lease of life in the beautiful parkland setting at RockinghamCastle. The event has built up a first class reputation amongst riders and visitors. The space available at Rockingham will allow the event to grow and develop into a major regional event”.
The Horse Trial will take place at RockinghamCastle, Market Harborough, Leicestershire over the weekend of the 2nd – 4th May 2014.
